As the Friends of the Kitchen Association, we kicked off February 2026—the month in which we celebrated our 35th anniversary—with a visit to Anıtkabir to pay our respects to our Founder.
At the official ceremony, attended by our association’s board of directors and members, our board chair, Esin Sungur, laid a wreath at Atatürk’s tomb, signed the Anıtkabir guestbook, and wrote the following:
“Dear Atatürk,
As the Friends of the Kitchen Association, which regards the research, documentation, and sharing of our country’s culinary culture as a vital mission for the preservation of our cultural heritage, we stand before you on the occasion of our 35th anniversary.
We continue our efforts to preserve, elevate, and pass on our culinary culture—one of the strongest pillars of our cultural heritage and social unity—on the foundation of modernity, guided by our loyalty to the values of our Republic, a beacon of civilization.
Following the enlightened path you have laid out, we will continue to work with all our strength to preserve our country’s cultural richness and carry it forward into the future.
With respect, gratitude, and longing.
Friends of the Kitchen Association, 19th Term Board of Directors”
