As the summer heat set in, members of the Friends of the Kitchen Association sampled select Turkish and international beers with our member Mehmet Yalçın, author of the book *Beer from A to Z*. Due to the overwhelming interest shown by our members, the tasting—held on two consecutive days, June 11 and 12—allowed the Friends of the Kitchen to discover the intricacies of the ever-expanding world of beer and the art of beer tasting. sampled beers from Turkey, Germany, Belgium, Ireland, and Denmark. Listening to Yalçın recount the stories behind various beer styles—such as lager, wheat beer, Indian Pale Ale, and monastery beers—the Kitchen Friends began their journey with light lagers and concluded it with Ireland’s iconic Guinness.
